The Statesville community is mourning the tragic and sudden loss of Trevor Miguel Roman, 24, who died following a shooting during a violent home invasion on April 18, 2026.
According to the Statesville Police Department, officers responded at approximately 11:30 a.m. to the 200 block of E. Bell Street after reports of a possible home invasion and a person shot inside a residence. When officers arrived, they found Trevor suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Authorities said officers immediately began rendering lifesaving aid until Iredell County EMS arrived and continued emergency medical treatment. Despite these efforts, Trevor was later pronounced deceased from his injuries at the scene. His sudden death has left family and friends in profound shock and grief.
At 24 years old, Trevor was in the early stages of adulthood, a period often defined by growth, opportunity, and plans for the future. His loss has created a deep void for those who knew him, as loved ones are now left to process a tragedy that unfolded in a place meant to provide safety.
Statesville Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division has launched an active investigation into the incident. Officials confirmed that the person responsible has been identified and stated there is no ongoing threat to the public.
For Trevor’s family, the circumstances surrounding his death do little to ease the weight of their grief. Instead, they are left grappling with sorrow, unanswered questions, and the painful reality of a life taken far too soon.
Those who knew Trevor remember him for more than the tragedy that ended his life. He is being honored as a son, friend, and young man whose presence left an impact on those around him. His absence is felt deeply in the lives he touched.
As the investigation continues, loved ones are left to mourn not only what happened, but also the future that will never come.
