Ryan Walker Obituary, Pittsburgh, PA Death: Beloved Resident Has Sadly Died

The Albuquerque community is grieving the heartbreaking and senseless death of Estevan Gomez, whose life was taken during a violent shooting in downtown Albuquerque early Saturday morning. According to the Albuquerque Police Department, the incident occurred around 4 a.m. near 3rd Street and Copper Avenue. Gomez and a co‑worker had just left a nightclub and were searching for their vehicle when they mistakenly approached a similar-looking car, believing it was theirs. The vehicle was locked, and the men were unable to open it.

Police say Edwin Sanders witnessed the confusion and accused the pair of attempting to break into the car. Gomez and his co‑worker reportedly tried to explain the misunderstanding and walked away to continue looking for their actual vehicle. Once they located it, Sanders allegedly followed them while armed with a handgun.

Investigators report that Sanders confronted the men and demanded money. As Gomez attempted to drive away to escape the situation, Sanders fired at the vehicle, striking the back window. Gomez was hit during the gunfire and later died from his injuries.

Following the shooting, police launched an investigation that led them to Sanders’ residence, where he was taken into custody. He now faces a series of charges, including an open count of murder, attempted armed robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, shooting at or from a motor vehicle, and additional firearm-related offenses.

The loss of Estevan Gomez has left his family, friends, and community devastated. His life ended in a moment of violence that should never have occurred, leaving loved ones mourning someone who simply should have made it home safely. As the case moves forward, many are choosing to honor Gomez by remembering the person he was and the memories he leaves behind, rather than the tragic circumstances of his death.
