A 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder after a shooting incident that left a 22-year-old woman dead on Sunday in north Harris County. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as Javon Brown, who was taken into custody shortly after the shooting, which occurred near an apartment complex located at 12655 Kuykendahl Road, close to West Rankin Road.
Authorities responded to reports of gunfire and found two women suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were rushed to a local hospital, but tragically, 22-year-old Julianna Cardenas was pronounced dead after arriving. The second woman, whose identity was not released, is currently receiving treatment for her injuries.
Investigators revealed that the shooting followed a confrontation between the women and a man earlier at a separate location. The group later arrived at the apartment complex in an attempt to seek help, where the situation escalated further. Cardenas had reportedly agreed to meet with one of the women involved in an ongoing dispute over a man, which eventually turned violent.
Brown, who is believed to have fired the shots, was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail. He is being held on a charge of murder as the investigation continues.
