The crash, which occurred shortly after 4:30 a.m. on April 18, 2026, resulted in the death of 4-year-old Kyzer Newsome and a 40-year-old woman, whose identity has not yet been released.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Nissan Altima, driven by a 30-year-old man from Dade City, was traveling northbound on Eiland Boulevard when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle crossed into the southbound lane. It collided with a Hyundai Santa Fe, operated by a 43-year-old man from Zephyrhills, resulting in a near head-on crash.

The impact of the crash proved fatal for Kyzer Newsome, who was a passenger in the Nissan, and the 40-year-old woman, a passenger in the Hyundai. Tragically, both victims died at the scene. The six remaining occupants from both vehicles sustained injuries, but authorities have indicated that their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
