Authorities have identified both the victim and suspect in a fatal shooting that occurred early Friday morning in Grove, leaving the local community shaken and a homicide investigation underway.
Grove Police Chief Mark Morris confirmed that Robin Quinn Sharp, the victim, died from gunshot wounds sustained during the violent incident at a residence on Apple Drive. Sharp was pronounced dead following the attack, which unfolded inside the home during the early hours of Friday morning.
The suspect has been identified as Terry Joe Hicks, who is currently being held in the Delaware County Jail as investigators continue to work on the case. Chief Morris stated that the situation began when Hicks arrived at the residence and allegedly removed an air conditioning unit from the home. Police say Hicks then fired a gun through the opening left by the removed unit before entering the residence.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the initial gunshot struck Sharp. However, once inside, Hicks is alleged to have assaulted Sharp before firing a fatal shot that ultimately caused their death.
Investigators revealed that Hicks had previously lived at the residence and is the estranged boyfriend of the woman who currently resides there. The exact relationship between Sharp and the woman has not been clarified by authorities at this time.
Law enforcement officials have not released further details about what may have led to the violent confrontation, and the investigation remains active. Detectives are continuing to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and piece together a timeline of the events leading to the fatal shooting.
