Kornegay and left three others injured. According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the accident occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. along Alabama Highway 216, about five miles east of Tuscaloosa, shattering what should have been an ordinary night for the victims.
Preliminary reports indicate that the SUV carrying four occupants veered off the roadway for reasons still under investigation before crashing into a tree. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts, Ashley Kornegay succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased. The three others inside the vehicle—a 35-year-old, a 19-year-old, and a 14-year-old—survived but sustained injuries.
