The tragic shooting death of Christopher M. Blair, 47, in Portsmouth, Virginia, has left the community in deep sorrow. According to police, the shooting occurred on April 18, 2026, around 10:44 p.m. in the 200 block of Mayflower Road. Authorities responded to gunfire reports and found Blair with a gunshot wound. Despite quick efforts to save him, Blair was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Investigators revealed that the incident stemmed from an argument between Blair and 54-year-old Bentley Tramaine Cherry. The dispute escalated into violence, with Cherry allegedly shooting Blair during the confrontation. Cherry was arrested shortly after and is facing charges, including First Degree Murder, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, and Shooting in Committing or Attempting a Felony. He is being held without bond while the investigation continues.
