The accident, which occurred just before midnight on April 17, has left family members shattered, friends in disbelief, and a town struggling to comprehend how a promising young life could be extinguished so suddenly.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the incident began when a pedestrian entered the roadway in front of a westbound GMC Yukon. The driver, a 22-year-old local, was unable to avoid the pedestrian, and the SUV struck the person before veering off the road and rolling over.
