According to the Oakland Police Department, the shooting occurred at approximately 8:15 p.m. in the 6400 block of Foothill Boulevard. Officers were alerted to the incident after the city’s ShotSpotter gunfire detection system registered multiple rounds fired in the area. Upon arrival, police discovered two men suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victims were later identified as 31-year-old Derrick Hubbard and 24-year-old Isaanae Morton. Both were transported to a nearby hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries. Their deaths mark yet another painful loss for families and loved ones affected by sudden violence.
As officers canvassed the surrounding area, a third victim was located nearby on 64th Avenue. That individual, who sustained gunshot wounds, was found alive and transported for medical treatment. Authorities have indicated the victim is expected to survive.
