Shamar Elkins Kills 8 Children, Shaneiqua Elkins Survives Shreveport Tragedy

The Shreveport community is reeling from a heartbreaking tragedy in the Cedar Grove neighborhood, where a domestic shooting claimed the lives of eight children and critically injured two mothers, including Shaneiqua Elkins, a survivor of the violent incident. The case, described by authorities as one of the most devastating domestic tragedies in the area, has left the entire community in mourning.

On a Sunday morning, police responded to a domestic dispute that unfolded across two homes, eventually identifying 31-year-old Shamar Elkins, the father of several of the children, as the suspect. Following a violent rampage, Elkins was killed by police after a pursuit. The tragic event claimed the lives of eight children, ranging from as young as one year old to early teens, leaving an irreparable hole in the hearts of their surviving family members and the Cedar Grove community.

In addition to the children’s deaths, two women were critically wounded. Shaneiqua Elkins, who remains hospitalized, is enduring both physical recovery and the emotional devastation of losing all eight of her children. Another mother, Keoshia, was also critically injured during the shooting.

A GoFundMe campaign titled “Support for Elkins Family – Community Unity” has been established to help Shaneiqua and the other surviving mother, Keoshia, cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and other essential needs as they navigate the overwhelming aftermath of this tragedy. The campaign has already raised close to $4,000, with donations pouring in from local residents and supporters hoping to ease the financial burden during an incredibly difficult time.

As the Cedar Grove neighborhood continues to grapple with this profound loss, the community stands united, offering support and solidarity to the grieving families.
